Nearly 3M Toyota vehicles recalled due to seatbelt flaw

According to a report from USA Today on February 18, Japanese automaker Toyota recently issued a recall of an estimated 2.9 million vehicles worldwide due to a potential seatbelt problem that could cause harm to vehicle occupants in the event of an accident.

According to reports, over 1.1 million of the affected Toyota vehicles were sold in the U.S. Toyota stated that the seatbelts in the second-row passenger seats may tear off in an accident. The problem may occur due to the bare metal of the seat cushion frame. Both window side passengers are at risk of suffering injuries when the seatbelts fail to restrain them in a heavy-impact frontal crash. Earlier models of Toyota RAV 4s, including the electric versions, were part of the recall. Toyota will address the problem by covering the metal frame of the affected vehicles for free.

Serious and even fatal injuries can occur because of defective vehicles or vehicle components. If you or someone you love has been hurt in a car accident, our experienced team can help you determine if a negligent auto manufacturer is responsible for your suffering. Learn more by contacting Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® today at (715) 345-0004.
