Vehicle catches fire in Stevens Point accident involving semi

A vehicle in Portage County J recently caught fire after a collision with a semi truck, an article in the Stevens Point Journal reported on December 14.

Information coming from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office revealed that at around 5:15 a.m., a vehicular accident took place on U.S. 10. Initial investigations said that the eastbound vehicle went into the opposite lane and crashed into an oncoming semi truck. An off-duty Waupaca officer who was on the scene reportedly helped in extinguishing the fire on the vehicle while the unidentified driver was trapped inside. Both drivers sought medical attention for injuries sustained in the accident. Authorities are investigating the possibility that wet road conditions and excessive speed were factors in the crash.

Speeding and any other instances of recklessness behind the wheel expose everyone on the road to serious and unnecessary harm.
