Millions of Chrysler trucks with airbag issues recalled in the US

Over 1.5 million Chrysler vehicles are being recalled in the U.S. due to two possible airbag malfunctions, an article from ABC News reported on September 10.

According to reports, the first recall affects 1.35 million 2012-2014 various models of pickup trucks that are equipped with airbags in the drivers’ seat that may unexpectedly deploy. Fiat Chrysler investigations revealed that the problem may occur if the wires in the steering wheel assembly degrade, resulting them to short circuit. Fiat Chrysler was aware of two incidents of injuries from the affected vehicles. In another recall, approximately 188,000 units of pickups are equipped with “side curtain airbags” in the rear passenger seats that may fail to protect passengers in an event of a rollover accident. Owners of the affected trucks should expect a notification from the carmaker for the repair of their vehicles.
