Honda added 690K vehicles in Takata airbag recall

Japan automaker Honda Motor Co. added an estimated 690,000 vehicles that may possibly have defective airbags made by Takata, the manufacturer that recently agreed to a their own recall, Reuters reported on May 28.

Honda reportedly announced that they are recalling 350,000 vehicles in the U.S. and another 340,000 vehicles in Japan. The Japanese airbag supplier Takata recently succumbed to an order by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to include 34 million vehicles made by 11 companies in their recall. The faulty airbags may explode when deployed, shooting off metal fragments that have been linked to deaths and injuries. Honda’s expanded recall was initiated after Honda found out that there were two new issues with the Takata airbag inflators.
