Thousands of Smart vehicles with faulty steering recalled in the US

At least 5,058 mini vehicles manufactured by Germany-based company Smart are being recalled in the U.S. due to a potential steering issue that could cause injuries in the event of an accident, a May 5 article of USA Today stated.

Repots said the recall affects four models of Smart ForTwo compact vehicles that are equipped with faulty steering mounting gear bolts. Owners of the affected vehicles may experience difficulty controlling the steering wheel if the gear mounting bolts suddenly break. The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration stated that the problem in the vehicles may increase the risk of accident.

Suffering injuries in car accidents caused by defective vehicles often leaves people facing permanent disabilities and overwhelming medical bills. Fortunately, compensation may be available from the responsible companies.
