BMW announces recall of 1.3 million vehicles

BMW AG has announced the recall of nearly 1.3 million vehicles after it was discovered that an incorrectly mounted cable cover could cause electrical malfunctioning.

According to a statement made by the premium car company, the potential faulty cable is in the car’s trunk and the recall affects the 5-series and 6-series models made between 2003 and 2010.

This electrical system malfunction can result in the car not being able to start and it some cases, charring or fire damage. There have been no reports of injuries associated with the recall and officials have stated that only about one percent of cars taken in to be fixed have had the faulty cover.
