Candlelight ski events may change to hiking events

Nearly 30 candlelight ski events have been scheduled for January and February and the first five are supposed to begin this weekend, but officials with the Department of Natural Resources have stated that this may not happen.

The southern and central areas of Wisconsin are currently experiencing a snow shortage which is making skiing impossible. Officials with the DNR have stated that the events will either be changed to candlelight hiking events or be completely cancelled.

Events were to take place at forests, state parks, trails and other areas. Event officials have stated that it is a good idea to call coordinators in order to see the decision on each event.
