Ironwood pedestrian accident claims the life of one man

A 77-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle in a pedestrian accident last week.

Police officials are currently still investigating the details of the crash that resulted in the death of the man. The accident took place at the intersection of South Suffolk St. and McLeod Ave. when a car struck the man at 1:40 p.m. as he was crossing the roadway.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and has been helping with the police investigation. The victim was transported to Aspirus Grandview Hospital and later airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in the crash.
