More potholes during cold weather months

Cities and counties across Wisconsin have been having difficulty keeping up with filling the increasing number of potholes in their roads.  During cold weather months, more potholes are created.  Marathon County Highway Foreman Russ Greveen describes the formation of potholes as when “water gets below the surface of the road, freezes at night, expands and pops the loose asphalt.”

According to Marathon County officials, the county uses an estimated 300 tons of new asphalt a year to fill potholes.  In addition, they say that they have 60 county workers patrolling the streets to look for potholes.  Still, they say, during the winter they have difficulty keeping up with finding and filling in potholes.

Potholes can cause serious damage to your vehicle and even cause a potentially dangerous car accident.  If you or someone you know has been injured in a car accident caused by a pothole or other road defect, contact the Stevens Point potholes attorneys of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® at 800-242-2874 today.
