Woman goes to trial for pedestrian accident that killed her boyfriend

A Green Bay woman went to trial last week for the pedestrian accident that killed her boyfriend.  Investigators believe that 42-year old Marlene Wanek was driving drunk, talking on the cellphone and traveling 18 to 24 miles per hour over the speed limit when the accident occurred.  She is being charged with homicide by operating a vehicle and homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

Wanek and her boyfriend, Kenneth Brown, were together at a tavern before the tragic pedestrian accident.  After an argument, Brown left to walk home and Wanek began driving to find him.  In the process, Wanek accidentally struck Brown as he was walking along the road.  Police arrived at the scene of the accident to find Wanek trying to perform CPR on her boyfriend.
