3 University of Minnesota students killed in tragic accident

Last Thursday, three University of Minnesota college students were killed in a tragic two-car accident in Wisconsin.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the accident occurred on Interstate 39 outside of Madison when five University of Minnesota students were stopped in the median shoulder of the southbound lanes to fix a flat tire on their Chrysler Sebring.  At around 2:40 AM a suspected drunk driver swerved out of the lanes of the highway and hit the stopped vehicle in the shoulder.

At the time of the collision, two students, 19-year old Marcus S. Johnson and 23-year old Wilfredo Ugarte, were outside of the vehicle and three other students remained inside.  The two men outside of the vehicle were killed in the accident and another student, a 20-year old woman, later passed away at the University of Wisconsin hospital from her injuries.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victims of this tragic accident.
