Dog causes 2-vehicle crash

A dog caused a crash Thursday afternoon in a restaurant parking lot in Middleton, Wis., authorities said. Its owner left it in the car with the windows rolled down while eating at the restaurant, police said, when the dog bumped the manual-transmission car into neutral.

The vehicle rolled across the parking lot and hit a pickup truck, authorities said, causing thousands of dollars of damage to each vehicle. Police said they thought it was an April Fool’s joke, and one officer said it was his first time in 27 years to see an accident with a dog at fault.
