Yelchin’s vehicle is part of FCA safety recall

The SUV involved in the recent Los Angeles accident that claimed the life of actor Anton Yelchin was one of the 1.1 million vehicles covered by a safety recall issued by Fiat Chrysler (FCA), an article of CNN reported on June 20.

According to reports, Yelchin, 27, died on Sunday, June 19 after his Jeep SUV suddenly rolled out of its place and struck him. Yelchin’s SUV was one of the millions of vehicles covered by a safety recall issued by FCA in April. The auto company decided to issue a recall after receiving complaints that the vehicles may move out of place after drivers exit their vehicles due to an issue with the gear selector. Though Yelchin’s death was the only recorded fatality, FCA is aware of 117 accidents caused by the issue.
