More fatal crashes occur on Tax Day than any other day in April

A study was recently released about the increase of fatal accidents that occur on Tax Day and researchers found that the number of crashes on this day is higher than any other day during the month.

The study looked into traffic fatalities over the past 30 years and found that the number of crashes on this day totals to 6,783. When divided out, this is nearly 226 accidents each tax day over the past three decades.

One week before and one week after Tax Day, the number of fatal accident was at 213, meaning there is a 6 percent increase on Tax Day compares to other days in April. Researchers have suggested that this may be because people are speeding to make it to the post office on time or just have additional stress on them because of the day.
