DOT releases Wisconsin accident statistics for 2010

The Department of Transportation recently released statistics concerning traffic accidents and fatalities in Wisconsin in 2010.  According to the DOT, Wisconsin had fewer than 600 traffic fatalities for the third year in a row with 564 deaths in traffic accidents in 2010.  The last time the state had fewer than 600 traffic fatalities for three years in a row was from 1942-1944.

Wisconsin State Patrol Superintendent David Collins stated, “Most of the fatal crashes involving passenger vehicles and light trucks are caused by bad driving habits and irresponsible decisions, so motorists deserve a great deal of credit for saving their own lives and the lives of others by slowing down, paying attention, buckling up and driving sober”.
